- Welcome to america's got talent

At the planet hollywood resort & casino in las vegas

Where tonight it's the standby acts' turn

For their shot at the top 48.

With only 17 remaining spots, the heat is on.

As a standby act,

You know you have to put up the performance of your life.

This is it.

- This is the one shot I have, and I gotta make it work.

- It just means I have to prove myself even more.

With the judges in place,

The first of the standbys prepare to take the stage.

It's the magicians.

- Doing magic, I mean, vegas is the mecca.

Every kid who wants to do magic

Wants to perform in vegas.

The lights are here, you know, the people are here,

The crowds are here.

- I think some of the other magicians

Are a little bit outdated.

- There's some stuff that I didn't think was super-original,

And I think that's what they're looking for on the show.

- The worst thing to do is be the cheesy magician

With the props that look old.

Ugh.

It's an old hat. I mean, we've seen it before.

- Ready to seize this moment is alaskan native,

26-year-old landon swank

Who the judges first met at the l.A. Auditions.

- Well done. I've never seen anything like that before,

And I loved it. Thank you.

I'm doing this for everybody who's believed in me,

Especially my fiancée.

This is vegas week, you know.

- Landon's got something totally different.

I've never seen this before.

He's kind of unique. It's cool.

- I have absolutely no idea how he did that.

- So landon's performance went well.

Hoping to match it is seth grabel.

- My toughest competition would be landon swank.

He's a good-looking guy. He's got the image.

To compete with landon,

I've gotta take it up to the top.

- I think there was a few things that were mistimed.

- So, you know, we look for perfection.

Was there perfection there?

- No, there was a few hiccups. - What happened?

- Well, apparently the cube wasn't on correctly.

- The prop was completely fine.

The girls put it down wrong.

He's a showman,

But to be fair to the other contestants,

It did go wrong.

- He's got a lot of competition.

You know, I'm not certain.

I gotta see more. I have to see more acts.

- What happened? What happened?

- I set the cube. I don't know what happened.

- I really hope I haven't cost him his spot,

'cause he deserved it.

He's worked very hard.

I'm upset.

I know we had a whole lot more.

I mean, that's not how it was supposed to happen.

And despite the pressure of the competition,

These young hopefuls still find time to have fun.

- We got in the pool, we got in the jacuzzi.

- But playtime can't last forever,

And tonight, back in the theatre,

It's time for the kids to take the stage.

The first of these young hopefuls

To try and impress the judges

Is six-year-old little t

Who we first met in houston

Where he wowed the judges with his energetic moves.

You're the man!

Hi, tanner. - Hi.

- How ya doing? - Good.

He is so cute.

- All right, you ready to do it? - Mm-hmm.

- Good luck. - Okay, good luck, tanner.

Thank you, tanner. - Thank you.

I can't believe he's six and the moves he does.

- Amazing moves. - It is, but is it a show?

- He's gonna give you your mics. So you're gonna be one...

Next to take the stage

Are three best friends from school,

Avery and the calico hearts.

These fourth-graders charmed the judges

At their houston audition.

- It sounds great, but it sounds like

Somebody's playing the record one speed too fast.

I mean that in a wonderful way.

- This performance is huge.

Been practicing like 24/7, like every single night,

Because we wanna get to the finals.

- Oh, yeah. - Hit it!

- All these kids are very, very talented.

- Are you happy with that? All: Yes.

- Think you did well? All: Yes.

- Did you sing all the notes in tune?

Most of them.

- "most of them"? - Most of them.

Nervous out there, so...

I think they're superstars.

I think they deserve their own television show.

- I think you're completely deluded.

In the judges' hands,

The young talent just keeps on coming.

- There's only a few people

Who get to go to hollywood,

And I really wanna go to hollywood.

- Waiting for her turn in front of the judges

Is 11-year-old singer anna graceman

Who showed a talent beyond her years

At the auditions in atlanta.

- You're just this little girl with this old soul,

Which is something that can't be learned.

You either have it or you don't.

I am kind of nervous,

But I really wanna make it past vegas

And to perform for millions of people.
