English subtitle preview

The first 200 lines.

Last night, I had a strange dream.

I was in a large field with my mom.

And she had on this long dress,

the exact same kind of dress she'd be wearing

if she were going to church or something.

But what's weird was the deer.

There was a whole herd of them.

You know, deer, like the animal.

But suddenly all these antlers appeared out of nowhere.

Like, you know how deer have antlers,

but instead they were growing out of the head of my mom.

It was freaky.

Like, I knew it was her.

She's identical.

Except for the antlers on her head.

They're beautiful. Have you ever seen a real deer before?

I mean, yeah, it was beautiful to see,

but you really got to wander.

Well, actually, antlers are kind of like teeth in dreams.

They represent the fear of dying.

- Who is he? - Him? He's an intern.

- We have an intern? - Yep, we sure do.

- What's his name? - Ask him yourself.

- What's your name? - Hugh.

Well, Hugh, where's my coffee?

It's a...

Sorry.

Hey, hey.

Stop. What's wrong with you? Damn it, you.

Come on. Stop.

I guess he's got a mean case of burnout.

This job must be too much for him.

Still, though, I wouldn't worry

about filing a complaint.

It'll only cause a fuss. He is just an intern.

But if you want, you can talk to HR.

No, I'm good.

You okay?

Yeah. Yeah.

- You sure? - Yeah.

- Hello there. - Hello.

What's that?

Leo! Léa!

Here. Your ball.

See ya, guys.

- So, here's the entrance. - Mm-hmm.

It has the open kitchen with the egg white design.

- Here you can see the ta-- - That's an egg?

- But why an egg? - Because it's a restaurant.

Check the floor plan. There's an egg.

Yeah, okay, but it says there that it's called "Newton."

Yeah, so?

But an apple comes to mind when I hear Newton.

Sure, but they serve chicken, not apple.

It doesn't matter.

An egg doesn't represent the name.

An apple fell on Newton's head.

I get what you're saying, but, no, it doesn't.

Apples just make me think of eating healthier.

- What's this here? A mistake? - No.

It looks like cereal.

Stop!

Ian?

Ian.

I was attacked by my colleague, Ian.

I, uh, was at my desk

and he started stabbing me repeatedly with a pen.

- With a pen? - Yes.

- I see. - He wouldn't stop.

He was...

Wait a second. You're a graphic designer?

- I am. - And you are, too, right?

I'm mostly a project manager.

- A manager? - Accounting. Right?

- Yeah, a bit of accounting. - I see.

Has there ever been any tension

between the two of you?

- No. - Sometimes colleagues

take part in petty competitions with each other.

Did he give you the black eye?

- Uh, no. - No, no.

- I did this. - I know.

A colleague managed to get it all on video.

You mind?

- Here, take a look. - Okay, one second. Let me...

- Press there. In the middle. - And this starts it? I see.

- And it's violent. - It sure is. Wow.

Yeah. Eesh.

Clearly you can tell I'm not my usual self.

- I never saw your usual self. - Well, I know myself.

And I don't recall doing that at all.

Everyone was saying "that's so out of character for you."

- Or "why'd you do that?" - It is concerning.

I think this would technically qualify as assault.

I don't understand what happened.

There's no need to cry, sir. We'll get to the bottom of it.

I think it's, uh-- I don't know--

a momentary lapse.

It can happen to anyone.

Yeah, I think you might be right.

It's pressure. Pressure from your work.

That is what it's all come down to.

This is yours. Are you filing a complaint?

- No. No. - Not you.

You. Will you be filing one?

No.

- Well, there you go. - Thank you.

Seal it with a shake.

There. Now, why don't you go get a drink together

like coworkers?

Yeah. That would be great.

- How do you feel? - Much better.

- Yeah? - Pain's gone now.

Hmm.

I'm sure you know we need to address the situation

and that we have to come up with a solution

for calming things down the best we can.

For sure. Ian and I--

- Okay. Okay. - I won't file a complaint.

Okay, that's good.

And I remember you've said before

that you wouldn't mind and that you even preferred

working from home occasionally.

- Uh, no. - Yes, I'm quite sure.

Whatever. That's not what really matters. Okay?

What I'm wondering is if it's a good time

to get some rest, get some distance.

You know, take a bit of a breather.

- But I'm fine. - Right.

You may feel fine, but, uh, hmm...

the same can't exactly be said for everyone else around here.

- The team isn't fine? - No.

And that's pretty obvious.

Then I'll go see clients in person.

- Well, that's an idea. - Work quietly at my desk.

- That shouldn't be an issue. - Of course.

It's just that remotely would be better.

Please try not to take it the wrong way, Vince.

I mean, you know how highly I think of you, right?

It's for everyone's good. That's all. Okay?

He's still here?

Well, his internship ends this week,

so we thought it would be easier to let him finish.

Hugh Murray went to James Joyce High School

in Boise.

He also attended NCSU in Raleigh

and had an internship at EPSL.

I mean VARTE. It says he was in VARTE.

Wasn't Ian at VARTE, too?

- I don't know. - Or was he?

It feels like there's all this weirdness lately.

Are any rumors about me going around?

No.

- You sure? - Mm-hmm.

Hey there.

Hello.

- Vincent. - Eva.

- What's up? - Not much.

- I'm sorry to make you wait. - No worries.

- You good? - Hope you don't mind.

I didn't have time to update my profile pic.

I mean, uh, were you in a fight?

No, no.

An intern at work smacked me in the face with his laptop.

- Seriously? - No, I'm serious.

Then the accountant took a few stabs at my arm.

He really stabbed me.

- Are you kidding? - No, no, it's all true.

So just for no reason?

Ah, maybe he didn't like my face or something.

Okay. Have you been single for a while or...

Not that long. I work with my ex.

- It's all good, though. - Oh, damn.

So you've got some drama in the workplace, don't you?

- I sure do. - Your ex. The intern.

And you? How's work?

I'm a project manager in automotives.

- Running smoothly? - Yeah.

Good one. It's certainly less frantic than you.

I mean, no one throws things and my ex isn't there.

It's chill.

So, do you plan on staying where you are or...

I--I--Sorry. I--I gotta go.

7 Abbeville Road.

We'd be done for.

We can get out of here if we have to.

And we got windows to see what's going on outside.

But down there, with no windows,

if a rescue party did come, we wouldn't even know it.

But the cellar is the strongest place.

The cellar is a death trap.

I don't know, Mr. Cooper.

I think he's right.

You know how many's out there?

I figure maybe six or seven.

I'm going back down to the cellar

and you better decide,

'cause I'm gonna board up that door

and I'm not gonna unlock it again, no matter that happens.

I'm sorry, man. I'm not sure what to say.
