We have just confirmed that Tarsa Steel,

the town's oldest manufacturing plant, is closing its doors,

moving its local operations to facilities elsewhere in the state.

We've been told that local employees will have the option

of transferring to another location.

with more on this developing story.

Phil, I'm outside of the plant where a company representative

tells me the transition will be finished by July 1st.

In a city of 24,000, estimates are that this will

directly impact 6000 jobs in Franklin.

The board has voted to close our plant in Franklin.
